About Our Campaigns
BE SAFE
BE SAFE promotes precautionary action to protect human health and prevent pollution. The precautionary approach shifts the questions we ask about environmental hazards from "what level of harm is acceptable?" to "how can we prevent harm?"
BE SAFE works with hundreds of groups across the country to build a national precautionary movement through advocacy, educational events, organizing and technical support to groups working on local and state precautionary policies, and distributing cutting-edge resources, publications and model precautionary policies.

Child Proofing Our Communities
Working with groups across the country, CPOC educates and empowers
communities to protect children from toxic exposures in the places where
they play, pray, learn and grow. The campaign works on issues such as
safe school siting, non-toxic pest management, least toxic cleaning
products and procedures, indoor air quality, and more. The campaign
educats communities on children's special health vulnerabilities and
brings together community leaders to collaborate on efforts prevent harm
in their communities. The CPOC campaign created and houses the Green
Flag Program for Environmental Leadership, the Green Flag/GreenFaith New
Jersey program, and the Florida Alliance for Healthy Indoor Environments.

Green Flag Schools
The Green Flag Schools Program for Environmental Leadership provides a framework for schools to engage in environmental advocacy. Through the program, students learn environmental concepts, investigate their schools, and advocate for school-wide reforms to make their schools safer and healthier. Working as a team to complete classroom activities, presentations, and environmental audits, students learn practical life skills, such as problem solving, teamwork, and public speaking, to be used far beyond the classroom. CHEJ's Child Proofing Our Communities Campaign coordinates the Green Flag Program.

PVC: The Poison Plastic
CHEJ coordinates a national campaign working to phase out PVC, the most dangerous plastic to our health and environment. In the past two years, we have successfully moved major Fortune 500 companies away from this unnecessary toxic plastic and towards safer and healthier alternatives. Microsoft, Johnson and Johnson, Wal-Mart, and Crabtree & Evelyn have all committed to phase out their use of PVC in packaging. We need your help to leverage these victories and win this campaign! Learn more about PVC's toxic threat, how you can get involved in the campaign, and protect your family from the poison plastic by visiting the campaign website.
